Privacy policy.
The plain-English version. What we collect when you ask a setup question or leave a chapter comment, who sees it, how long we keep it, and what to ask us if you want any of it gone. Last refreshed July 2026.
1. Who we are
"We", "us", "Mount Mate" mean the two-person writing team behind mountmate.online — the Mount TV setup guide. There's no corporate parent and no third-party data team, just Tom and Mara. Contact: hey@mountmate.online.
2. What we collect
Only what you give us in the question form or a chapter comment, and only what we need to write back an answer:
- Your name (whatever you want to be called in the reply)
- An email — we reply by email
- Any photo or screenshot you attach to your question
- The telly model/size and wall details you mention
- The thread itself — the email chain is the record of the conversation
We do not collect payment details. The guide is free. If you ever buy something we eventually offer (e.g. a printable chapter pack), the payment processor (Stripe) handles the card data — we never see it.
3. Why we have it
To answer your question, to point you at the right chapter (or write a new one), and to keep a record of the conversation in case you have a follow-up later. That is the whole list. We do not build profiles, run analytics on you personally, or feed anything into a "marketing pipeline".
4. Legal basis
Two reasons, depending on the data:
- Consent / legitimate interest. When you write to ask a question, replying is the obvious purpose — that's the basis we rely on.
- Legitimate interest. Keeping the email thread for a while so we can answer your follow-up, and so we can credit your question if it becomes a chapter.
5. Who sees it
Tom and Mara. That's the list. We don't sell, rent, swap, or hand over your details to marketers, lead-aggregators, "directory" companies, sponsors, or anyone else with a clipboard.
The small handful of services we use to run the site — our email host, a privacy-friendly analytics counter — each see the slice of data they need to do their bit, and nothing more. None of them are based outside standard data-protected regions.
6. How long we keep it
- Question threads + attached photos: 18 months after the last reply, then deleted.
- Chapter comments: kept until you ask us to remove them; you own your comment and can email at any time.
- Anonymised analytics: aggregated traffic counts (no personal data) — kept indefinitely.
7. Your rights
The standard set. Email hey@mountmate.online and ask for any of these — we'll usually answer the same day, max within 30 days:
- A copy of what we hold about you
- Corrections, if something's wrong
- Deletion (where we're not required to keep it by law)
- To opt out of any analytics cookies
8. Cookies & analytics

9. Changes
If this policy ever changes, we update the date at the top and post a one-line note in the footer for a fortnight. If the change is anything bigger than a typo, we'll send an email to anyone with an active question thread.
